Avoid the Landfill
We hear often, “Oh, you’re a ‘green’ builder” when people see for the first time BuilderFish’s mission, Recycle Your House. While that’s accurate, we will modernize a home however a client prefers, recycling houses is broader than just one construction method or approach. What we’re doing in all cases is avoiding the landfill or, most accurately, not delivering as many truckloads of debris had we demolished the house and rebuilt from scratch. We refer to the latter as the “wrecking ball” method, a waste of still useful resources.
That’s an important distinction because some owners might shy away from considering if they perceive “going green” to be prohibitively expensive and not within their budget. Not every home needs solar or wind power to become environmentally friendly. You can make a difference by keeping the good within a structure and replacing only the inefficient or obsolete. In other words, why throw away more than necessary?
Think of Recycle Your House as “make use of”, “re-use” or even “save trees”. Regardless of being technically “green”, you’ll benefit the environment and save money by preserving land, conserving supplies/energy and reducing waste. Undoubtedly you’ll help because the landfill is nearly full.
